Our son Chase Goodin was born in 2012, at 26 weeks gestation, in Townsville QLD. Our family moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast, in 2013 on April the 1st…which also happened to be Chase’s 1st birthday! Fast forward a few months and we found out Chase has cerebral palsy. He met all his mile stones until age 2, then he did not really develop physically any further. He is a BEAUTIFUL little person. He is very smart and has a lot of friends at kindy. He loves dinosaurs, riding his bike and going for swims in the pool. He is 100% a boy’s boy! He has a little walking frame, and he is the most out-going crazy, fun loving little boy I have ever met. He has a little sister Sophie who is 1, they are extremely close. Chase is turning 5 this year, and is in his second year of kindy. He has endured treatment upon treatment over the last couple of years, wears a pair of orthotics inside his shoes and is trying really hard to do his best. He has treatments such as botulinum toxin injections (botox in his leg muscles to relax them temporarily). He attends a private physio therapy on the Sunshine Coast on average once a fortnight (appointments due to availability) and we do a lot of work behind the scenes at home. Recently our family has been introduced to a more intensive type of therapy called the Therasuit treatment. This is an intense physio therapy session that goes for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 3 weeks. The sessions will retrain his brain, body and muscles, to think he is capable of actually walking properly and learn how to hold himself properly. Eventually after having this 3 week treatment a few times over the next 3 or 4 years, Chase should be able to walk a lot easier, maybe even unassisted (no walking frame). By donating to our family, you would be helping to cover the cost of travel, missed work so Chase can have his dad with him, and the treatment which costs between $7000- $14000 depending on which city we have to travel to. However, we cannot afford to do this by our self as we are a one income family. Every parent wants to give their child the best possible chance of success and happiness in this world, and by helping fund these treatments, you would be helping us reach our goal of fulfilling chase’s dreams to walk, run and play freely. Every single dollar will count, please help us by donating today. Chase deserves the chance to walk by himself. We are so blessed to have so many amazing people rallying around us full of support. We will update photos and let everyone know how everything is going as we go along.
